Problem

Many gym-goers rely on paper logs or fitness apps that require a constant internet connection, making it difficult to track workouts reliably in environments with poor connectivity. Existing solutions often separate workout logging, routine planning, rest timing, and body measurement tracking into different experiences, creating unnecessary friction during training sessions.

Approach

Built a cross-platform fitness tracking application using React Native, Expo, Hono, Prisma, and PostgreSQL. The app follows an offline-first architecture, allowing users to log workouts, update measurements, and manage training programs without an internet connection, with automatic synchronization occurring when connectivity is restored. To improve the workout experience, the application includes live session tracking, configurable rest timers that continue running in the background, historical performance data for progressive overload, and a unified system for workout planning and body composition tracking. Shared type definitions and validation ensure consistency between the mobile client and backend APIs.

Outcome

Delivered an offline-first fitness tracking platform that combines workout logging, progress tracking, rest timers, and training plan management into a single mobile experience. The application is currently undergoing testing, with a public Google Play Store release planned following validation of the synchronization and workout-tracking workflows.
