Problem
Most people have little sense of how much of the year has passed until major milestones arrive. While year-progress trackers exist, they are often passive visualizations that users rarely revisit and provide no proactive reminders as the year advances. There was no simple way for Farcaster users to track the current year's progress, receive milestone updates, and preserve meaningful moments along the way.
Approach
Built a Farcaster Mini App and web application that combines live year tracking with shareable, timestamped snapshots. A unified UTC-based time engine powers the application, ensuring the displayed progress, generated OG images, and NFT artwork remain consistent across all surfaces. Users can mint the current year's progress as an NFT on Base, while shared snapshots preserve the exact percentage at the moment they were created. An automated bot monitors year progression and broadcasts every 1% milestone on Farcaster, while also delivering Mini App notifications to subscribed users.
Outcome
Created a real-time year-progress tracker that allows users to monitor the current state of the year and mint the current progress as an NFT on Base. Users can also share timestamped snapshots that remain accurate over time, preserving specific moments in the year's progression. An automated bot broadcasts every 1% milestone on Farcaster and sends Mini App notifications, helping users stay engaged as the year advances.
